Theophany 2026

Theophany 2026

On the Sunday before Theophany we served Vespers for the Great Feast immediately following the Liturgy, and later in the evening we held Great Compline with Litya in preparation for the celebrations the following day.

In the morning we served Matins, followed by the Hours and the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great. And afterwards the Great Blessing of the Waters during which the faithful smiled with joy as they were blessed, and the church was sprinkled with Holy Water.

Father Spasimir spoke about the importance of this feast because it reveals the manifestation of the All Holy Trinity, The Son being baptized in the Jordan, the Holy Spirit descending in the form of a dove, and the Father making the proclamation: ‘This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased’ (Matt 3:17). For this reason it is held as one of the most important feasts in the Orthodox Church and it is one that every Orthodox Christian should strive to attend.
