Holy Unction Pilgrimage to London
On the Saturday 21st of March a group of 30 of our parish made their way to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs in London for the rite of Holy Unction. The service was led by Vladyka Irenei and 6 priests from across the diocese including Father Spasimir.
The service includes 7 Apostle readings, and 7 Gospel readings alongside prayers for healing and repentance. At the conclusion of the service Vladyka Irenei delivered a sermon about healing, and reminding those present that healing is not just about physical ailments, but about the sins and passions which afflict our souls. After this the faithful were anointed 7 times with consecrated oil, first by Vladyka Irenei and then by each of the 6 priests.
It was the first time that many of our parishioners had visited the London Cathedral, and greatly admired the beauty of the service. We departed back for Norwich with a sense of peace and a hope that God will grant us all the healing that we need.
