Kursk Root Icon

On 25th of March 2022, the long-awaited event happened: our parish was visited by the Wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. This icon visits our parish for the second time: the first time was about three years ago.

The icon arrived to the house of Fr. Spasimir in the car of Fr. Vitaly from London in the evening of 24th March, and during the night, there was a moleben in front of the icon. In the morning of 25th March, the icon arrived to our church, and the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was celebrated. Fr. Spasimir was co-served by Fr. Vitaly as well as by a Bulgarian priest Fr. Dobromir. There were many parishioners at the Liturgy, and people had the unique opportunity to venerate the miraculous icon and to pray in front of it. At the end of the Liturgy, Fr. Vitaly spoke about the very rich history of the Kursk Root icon.

After the Liturgy, Fr. Spasimir visited the homes of many parishioners with the icon. In the evening of the same day, there was a moleben and Akathist in the front of the Kursk Root icon, and then Fr. Vitaly brought the icon back to London.

Both morning and evening services were very beautiful, it was a gracious and joyful atmosphere in the church for the whole day, and there was a strong desire for the icon to stay longer in the church.

It is a big blessing from Mother of God to our parish, and we hope that this visit was not the last time!
