First Week of Great Lent

First Week of Great Lent

For the first week of Great Lent 2026 we held services every evening, with the reading of the Canon of Saint Andrew of Crete which speaks of penitential themes and references countless figures from the Holy Scriptures, urging us to emulate the righteous examples and avoid the examples set by the unrighteous as we embark on our Fasting journey towards Holy Pascha.

On Wednesday we held Matins, the Lenten Hours, and the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. There was a prayerful atmosphere as the faithful gathered to receive the Holy Mysteries.

On Friday we served Small Compline along with the Canon and Akathist to the most Holy Theotokos, rounding off a week of blessed struggle and prayer.
